How It All Began

In 1964, Ed and Margie Imo opened a small pizzeria on Thurman Avenue in St. Louis, Missouri. Their vision was simple yet bold: create a pizza that embodied the soul of St. Louis — thin, square-cut, and blanketed with creamy Provel cheese.

"We didn't just want to make pizza. We wanted to make St. Louis pizza — something our neighbors could call their own."

That first modest location quickly became a neighborhood staple. Word spread fast. Families returned week after week, and before long, Imo's became synonymous with comfort, community, and celebration in the Gateway City.

Today, Imo's Pizza has grown to more than 90 locations across the St. Louis region, yet our commitment to the original recipe — ultra-thin crust, tangy tomato sauce, and signature Provel — remains as strong as ever. Every pizza we make is a tribute to that founding kitchen.

The First Slice
